establishing good habits

Some of the most successful and wealthy people established good habits early on in their quest for greatness. Whether it is financial, personal or business related good habits usually mean good outcomes. There are many things that can effect the process of creating good habits but I have decided that there are 3 main parts to habit forming. Those habits are:

  • Setting up a system

  • Consistency/Repetitiveness

  • Understanding your goal and your why

Setting up a system and a plan that fits your lifestyle can make life easier when forming a new habit. A few examples:

  • Setting an alarm for your bedtime and wake up. (Creating a beautiful rest place. Ask me how I can help)

  • Removing foods from your home that you know you cannot resist.

  • Add time to your calendar to meet up with friends to keep and make connections.

  • Set a time to tidy up after a meal. Here you get a 2-for-1 deal: 1) movement to digest your meal 2) keeping a tidy home.

When establishing a habit, consistency and repetitiveness are vital. We all struggle with consistency in some area of our lives however, doubling down on our goals, putting the right system in place and making the decision to “Just Do It” will create healthy and sustainable habits.

Have you ever started a  new job but their computer systems are very complicated? I have! I stuck with it, I made mistakes, but I continued to go to work and consistently practiced the tasks and now I am capable of training others to do this challenging job too. :) Well, just take that same energy and transfer it to other areas of your life. Just keep doing it eventually you will get to the goal of mastering the habit you sought out to achieve.

So why am we doing this? Exactly, Why? To understand your why, you must understand your core values and taking the time to drilled down on what your core values. Our core values drive our everyday life. Understanding your values will guide you on where to start. When you know and understand what things are important to you, you can navigate in a constructive way and live a joyful life while forming good habits. Here are just a few core habits of mine:

  • Prosperity/money/legacy

  • Freedom/free time

  • Close connections

Learning is also a core value of mine so I’m always purchasing an audiobook, an online training course or listening to informative podcasts. Here are a few books and podcasts that I enjoy and assist me in habit formation—-

BOOKS:

  • The Compound Effect - By Darren Hardy - It is a very easy read and easy to implement.

  • The 5 second Rule - This really helps when getting up for that 5 am gym time. Haha!

  • The Alchemist - Written in ’93 it’s definitely a great book, although not about habits, it is about making your desires happen. Doing the work regardless. “When you really want something to happen, the whole universe will conspire so that your wish comes true” Santiago.

PODCASTS:

  • The Millionaire Mindset

  • Design Time

  • Brown Ambition

I’d love to hear from you. What are some habits you’d like to form? What are your core values? Do you have any suggestions on how to form a good habit, i’d love to know?

Wish you all the best!

Enjoy!
